Like peers Luke Combs and Jake Owen have done, country singer-songwriter Larry Fleet takes an honest look at life changes on this fourth studio album, which follows 2023’sEarned It. Entirely self-produced,Another Year Older is Fleet’s most ambitious and introspective project yet, and it marks his first release with independent label Stellar Way Records/EMPIRE. The “God Again” artist also co-wrote nine of the album’s eleven tracks, with co-writers including Music Row heavy hitters like Jessi Alexander, Luke Laird, Randy Montana and Rhett Akins. The title track is a tender ballad that addresses a lost loved one on what would have been their birthday, and “5:25” is a touching tribute to Fleet’s father and the sacrifices he made. There are nods to Fleet’s pre-music life, too, like early release and album closer “American Made”, which celebrates independence and self-reliance, pointing back to Fleet’s days as a concrete worker with vignettes that get at the heart of blue-collar living.
