Disney Magical World 2 is a life simulation game originally released by Bandai Namco Entertainment for theNintendo 3DS in 2015, and is the direct sequel toDisney Magical World. As in the first game, the player (who can play as either an original avatar or aMii) is invited by Mickey Mouse to live in the land of Castleton. The game features over 100 characters associated with the core Disney brand, mostly from theMickey Mouse universe andWalt Disney Animation Studios films. Besides being an option for the player character, Miis can also be set as staff members in the player's Café, and the Miis of other players can appear throughout Castleton when retrieved online. It is the sixth game overall to feature Mii characters alongside Disney properties.
A Nintendo Switch rerelease including the previous version's downloadable content, titledDisney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition was released in 2021.
Development
The title was officially announced in June 2015 once an official website was opened in Japan, with a livestream with additional information being aired the following month.[1] The game was localized overseas almost an entire year after its Japanese release with several in-person events at the Nintendo NY store in New York City being hosted to promote its release. Plans for the Nintendo Switch release began a year and a half before its release, with its actual development period lasting less than a year.[2] The game was announced during aNintendo Direct on September 23, 2021 with Mii support being confirmed for its rerelease sometime in November via the Nintendo eShop.
Gameplay
Disney Magical World 2 is a life simulation game where players can partake in multiple activities such as fishing, planting crops, collecting cards for parades, crafting clothing and furniture, decorating their homes, and managing a café. The café can be customized with themed furniture and menu items which allows the player to host special parties with specific Disney characters. Completing tasks from Castleton locals and Disney characters provides materials and items that can be used for crafting items. Progression is tied to the game’s sticker system, where stickers are earned by fulfilling certain achievements which can unlock new areas and activities within Castleton. Portals located throughout Castleton allow access to six Disney-themed worlds, each based on a different franchise. These include Arendelle fromFrozen, Atlantica fromThe Little Mermaid, 100 Acre Wood fromWinnie the Pooh, and more. Within each world, players can partake in plot-driven “episodes” that feature collection tasks and combat sequences against ghosts, fought using magical wands provided by the sorcerer Yen Sid. In addition to its life simulation and adventure elements, the game also includes rhythm-based sequences in the form of balls inside the castle.
Mii usage
Miis can be selected as the player's character alongside the game's proprietary avatars. In the Nintendo 3DS version, the game automatically sets the player's birthday as the Mii's registered birthday if one is selected. Due to the field being removed from Miis on the Nintendo Switch, the player must manually enter their birthday instead. Miis can also be set as employees in Castleton's café, and Miis of other players can appear throughout Castleton once their profile cards are retrieved online.

Trivia
- The game's main theme "Sparkle" is performed by J-pop artist May J.. The English and Japanese version of the song appears on her Disney cover albumMay J. Sings Disney.
- In Japan, the game was heavily promoted alongside the album. The white dress May J. wears on the album's cover artwork was added to the game as an unlockable outfit.
- For unknown reasons, the shaders for Mii heads in the Nintendo Switch rerelease are rendered very brightly compared to the game's original avatars.
