Microsoft Office 2021
(the third release codenamedOffice 16) is a version of theMicrosoft Office productivity suite of applications for theWindows and macOSoperating systems. It was released on October 5, 2021, alongsideWindows 11, and replacedOffice 2019.[2][3] A successor, Microsoft Office 2024, is expected to be rolled in in the second half of 2024.[1]
Office 2021 retains the same major version number of 16 as previous versions of Office. It introduces new dynamic arrays, XLOOKUP[4] features forExcel, full dark-mode support, and performance improvements.[5][6][7] Support for retail versions of Office 2021 will end on October 13, 2026; unlike older versions of Office, there is no extended support period.[8]

The office suite updates include better support for the OASIS OpenDocument file format. It adds features to the LET function in Excel, as well as better search for the XMATCH function, dynamic arrays, and XLOOKUP. Ink for Translate is enhanced inOutlook andPowerPoint.

Default font change[]
Midway through the life cycle of Office 2021, after two years of evaluating five newly commissioned fonts in July, the default font across all Office applications was changed toAptos.[citation needed] This marked the first time in 16 years that Microsoft had changed the default fonts.
