Welcome to Wiki Loves Ramadan!

Wiki Loves Ramadan (WLR) is an annual international campaign organized by the Wikimedia community and led byWiki Knowledge Park. The project invites people around the world to document and share knowledge about Ramadan, Islamic culture, heritage, and traditions across Wikimedia projects.

Wiki Loves Ramadan combines two main activities:

  1. Content creation – expanding and improving articles about Ramadan, Islamic practices, culture, and landmarks.
  2. Public photo competition – encouraging photographers to upload free images that capture Ramadan, Islamic architecture, cultural traditions, and community gatherings.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Wiki Loves Ramadan is to empower communities to contribute high-quality, freely accessible knowledge about Ramadan and the wider Islamic world. By highlighting diverse traditions and practices, the campaign aims to strengthen cultural understanding and preserve heritage for future generations.

The vision is to build a comprehensive, multilingual, and freely available repository of knowledge about Ramadan and Islamic culture, celebrating both the diversity and shared aspects of Muslim heritage worldwide.

Photo Competition
