Theglobal IP block exemption is a global group that allows users to bypassglobal IP blocks and rangeblocks. Users may request access toglobal-ipblock-exempt atSteward requests/Global permissions. If the IP is also blocked locally, users may also request access viaUTRS or stewardswikimedia.org.

This group allows the user to bypass global IP blocks, global rangeblocks and Tor exit node blocks, according to the policy atNo open proxies#Exceptions.

Users in this group are also allowed to bypass the IP restrictions issued by theStopForumSpam extension.

This group doesnot affect local IP blocks and local rangeblocks; for which a localIP block exemption is needed.

Users with global IP block exemption who have not been active on any Wikimedia project for a period of 1 year will have their access removed due to inactivity.
