TheWarhead module was a section ofDefiant-class starships used as a last resort weapon.

The module made up the nose section of theDefiant-class, including thedeflector dish, and had a separate miniatureimpulse engine to propel the warhead, armed with a magazine of sixphoton torpedoes, to the target. (DS9reference:Technical Manual)

InApril2376Ezri Dax andNog fired theUSSDefiant’s warhead module to destroy the last of threeJem'Hadar fighters which had launched an attack onDeep Space 9. TheDefiant's replacement warhead module was sourced directly fromUtopia Planitia. (DS9novel:Avatar, Book One)

TheUSSGryphon later brought the new warhead module to Deep Space 9. (DS9 -S31novel:Abyss,DS9 -Gatewaysnovel:Demons of Air and Darkness)
