(STreference:The Art of John Eaves)
Bakker type[]

USSBakker
This type of starship, known from theUSSBakker, was in use sometime in the mid23rd century. This ship type was similar in design style to the venerableConstitution-class, but with a significantly bulkier secondary hull, and an additional add-on pod mounted behind the saucer section. (TOS -Unlimitedcomic: "Action of the Tiger")
Balmung type[]

USSBalmung
The starship class to which theUSSBalmung belonged was similar in appearance to theAmbassador-class. It shared the same layout, with a similar primary and secondary hull, but with warp nacelles more akin the the refit-Excelsior-class, andimpulse engine housing with an even older design aesthetic harking back to the originalExcelsior-class. (Ships of the Line 2012)
- TheBalmung was designed byartistDan Uyeno as a chronologically intermediate starship between theExcelsior and theAmbassador-classes. Along with theUSSMughi, it was featured in the2012 Ships of the Line calendar in the imageReprovisioning at Sea forFebruary.
Bold Venture type[]

USSBold Venture
This distinctive type of starship is known from theUSSBold Venture. While apparently based on aConstitution-class saucer section, this design had a single nacelle suspended beneath the saucer in a fashion not typically seen in Starfleet designs, and seemed to lack a secondary hull entirely. (TOScomic: "The Nogura Regatta")
Dorothy Garrod type[]

USSDorothy Garrod
This type of starship is known from theUSSDorothy Garrod. Ships of this class had a visually distinct stacked design, with more use of negative space than is typical of Federation designs. Vessels of this type were in operation in the mid23rd century, and seemed to be a contemporary of the Crossfield-class. (DSC -Discovery Annualcomic: "Captain Saru")
Dresselhaus type[]
- See:Dresselhaus type.

The USSGregory in2266.
TheGregory-type starship was in service in at least the2260s. It bears a resemblance to aConstitution-class design, but noticably has a significantly larger and bulkier secondary hull. This may factor into theUSS Gregory's role as a medical ship. (STvideo game:Starship Creator;TOScomic: "The Wormhole Connection")
Hornet andWasp's type[]

The USSWasp in an asteroid belt.
This starship was in service in at least the24th century. At least two ships of this class are known - theUSSHornet (NCC-9700), and its sister ship, theUSSWasp (NCC-9701). (ST -Ships of the Linecalendar:2018)
Maverick type[]

TheUSSMaverick in2379.
The ship class to which theUSSMaverick belonged was of an unusual design. It consisted of a rectangular hull only a few decks thick with a flattened hexagonalnavigational deflector dish set in front, and a pair of large, angular, warp nacelles that jutted forward giving it the appearance of a larger, elongatedSurak-typewarp sled. This class was inStarfleet service until at least2379. (ST -Alien Spotlightcomic: "Borg")
Mughi type[]

USSMughi
The starship class to which theUSSMughi belonged had a distinct2270s/2280s design aesthetic, and a layout similar to the smallerOberth-class, but with a couple of major differences: The primary hull and nacelles were attached to the secondary hull by a dorsal connector (or neck); and the secondary hull itself mounted two large outboard cargo pods, one on either side. The aft section of the secondary hull served as acargo bay accessible byshuttlecraft - It was open tospace, but aforcefield kept theatmosphere contained. Ashuttlebay was located in the aft section of the primary hull, with anarboretum in the starboard rear quarter. (Ships of the Line 2012)
- TheMughi was designed byartistDan Uyeno as astarship that would be in use from the late-23rd century through to the2360s (Dan Uyeno's SOTL Showcase). Along with theBalmung, it was featured in the2012 Ships of the Line calendar in the imageReprovisioning at Sea forFebruary.

This type of starship is known from theSS Nakatomi (NCC-4721), a freighter in Starfleet service in the late 23rd century. This freighter had a distinct four-lobed primary hull. (TNGvideo game:Echoes from the Past)
Nelson type[]

TheNelson-type starship, operating in the2250s, appeared to be aConstitution-class variant and predecessor to theConstellation-class. It had four warp nacelles, one pair above the primary hull, and one pair below. (EVcomics: "The Fallen", "Futures, Part One")
Odyser type[]

TheUSSOdyser in 2368.
TheOdyser-type starship, known from theUSSOdyser, was active in the 24th century. The only known vessel of this configuration was used as a training vessel for Starfleet Cadets. (TNGcomic: "Wet Behind the Ears")
Onimaru type[]

TheOnimaru in orbit around an inhabited planet.
This large starship, in service in the late-24th century, was known by theUSSOnimaru, NCC-76890. It had an ovalprimary hull, the longest axis of which lined up fore and aft, with at least six dorsalphaser arrays, two secondaryimpulse engines (one either side of the aft hull), numerousASRV-type escape pods, an auxiliary craftlanding pad and themain shuttlebay. The saucer joined directly to the wide secondary hull with the main impulse engine in the centre of the vessel's "spine". The two angularwarp nacelles had a flattened octagonal cross-section and were joined to the secondary hull bynacelle pylons that curved gently back and upwards. (Ships of the Line 2014)
Osler type[]

The USSOsler
This starship, in service in the late-24th century, was known by theUSSOsler, NX-75300. TheOsler was used as a medical transport vessel by StarfleetDivision 14. Its NX registry implies it is an experimental design, possibly the first of its class. This class of vessel does not have a definer primary hull or saucer section, as many Federation starships do. Instead, its overall structure more resembles other cargo and transport ship used by the Federation, including theAerie-class andSydney-class. This type of vessel is uniquely identified by the large vertical spire attached to the hull. (LDepisode: "Much Ado About Boimler")
Paradox type[]

The USSParadox
TheParadox-type starship was an experimental type oftimeship produced by theDaystrom Institute in the late24th century. It possessed a new type of stardrive known asShunt drive, which folded time instead of space. This also contributed to the unusually large size and unusual shape of the nacelles. During the demonstration of the prototype,USSParadox, to Starfleet admiralty, it was stolen by AdmiralEdward Jellico. (NFcomic: "Turnaround, Part I")
Pleiades type[]

The USSPleiades
This type of small starship, known by at least one vessel, theUSSPleiades, was in operation in the2360s or2370s. The class featured a long round hull, which was bisected about a third from the aft of the vessel by the vessel's circularwarp nacelles. The class appeared to have two decks, with a cockpit and aft compartment on the upper-deck. The class was capable of making terrestrial landings. (STcalendar:Ships of the Line 2008)
- ThePleiades was a new class introduced in theShips of the Line calendar. The designerMark Rademaker describes it as aNew Atlantic-classrunabout. Additional images of the class by Rademaker show its modular characteristics: the lower section of the ship is a large module, additionally smaller side modules can be fitted to that, as well as two small module slots on the top of the ship.[1]
Protostar-class[]

The USSProtostar, crashed on Tars Lamora
TheUSSProtostar was a 24th century Federation starship, and was the first ship of its class, succeeded by theUSS Prodigy. TheProtostar was lost in theDelta Quadrant, and later discovered by inhabitants of theTars Lamora prison colony. (PRDepisode: "Lost and Found")
Salk type[]

The USSSalk
This type of vessel is known from theUSSSalk (NCC-761), ahospital ship in service in the2270s. TheSalk is notable for its spherical primary hull, as seen on many Starfleet medical ships. The design seems to be aConstitution-class-contemporary intermediary between the olderDaedalus-class, and the forthcomingOlympic-class. (TOS -The Chosencomic: "Blood Enemies")
Spirit type[]

The USSSpirit
This type of starship, known by the vesselUSSSpirit, was in service in the late-24th century or later, and made use ofquantum slipstream drive propulsion technology, in additionwarp engines. The class was relatively small, approximately four decks high, and featured a tapered streamline hull with small wings near the front of the vessel and tailfin at the rear. The ship's warp nacelles were suspended on pylons extending out and down from the top of the rear of the vessel. (STcalendar:Ships of the Line 2009)
- TheSpirit was introduced in theShips of the Line calendar. The designerMark Rademaker suggests it is a member of theSpirit-class.[2]Talk:USS Spirit (NX-79995)#Email from Mark Rademaker
Sun Tzu type[]
- See:Sun Tzu type.
Thanatos type[]

The USSThanatos
This specific starship design is known from a single example, theUSSThanatos. Like many vessels of the era, theThanatos shared many structural and aesthetic design features with the well-known Constitution class, but with noticeably different nacelle pylons and neck section. (STreference:Ships of the Line 2013)
Valley Forge type[]
- See:Valley Forge type.
Weinstein-type[]

The USSWeinstein, in front of aConstitution-class cruiser
TheUSSWeinstein was a medicaltransport vessel in service in the2280s decade. TheWeinstein is the only known vessel of this configuration in the era, reminiscent of the much laterCurry-class vessels used during theDominion War. This design is characterized by nacelles suspended from the saucer section, largely covering a secondary hull hung underneath. (TOS -Who Killed Captain Kirk?comic: "Haunted Honeymoon")
By class likeness[]
Altair-type variant[]

Altair-type starship variant.
This class of starship sported the traditional layout of asaucer section, engineering hull and twinwarp nacelles, but in a new design. It utilized a secondary hull very similar to the overall look of the experimentalUSSAltair of the2370s, but with the addition of a large circular or ellipticalprimary hull. (STreference:Ships of the Line)
Constitution/Miranda-class variant[]

Constitution/Miranda-class starship variant.
This unknown class of starship was in service during the late-23rd century. It appeared to have aMiranda-class primary hull with a pair of warp nacelles on a short pylons on either side, and aConstitution-classsecondary hull suspended underneath with an ovalnavigational deflector.
One ship of this class participated in a battle alongside seven other Starfleet vessels, including theUSSEnterprise-A, near a ringedplanet. (Ships of the Line 2011)
Decatur-class variant[]

This variant of theDecatur-class had aMiranda-class primary hull rather than aConstitution-class hull. Twinpulse-phaser cannons were mounted on the dorsal aft surface above theshuttlebays.
