TheUSSRepulse (NCC-2544) was anExcelsior-classexplorer that was commissioned in the year2357 under the command ofCaptainTaggert.

The ship was named forHMSRepulse^WP, a20th centuryRenown-class battlecruiser^WP that served in theRoyal Navy. (STreference:The Star Trek Encyclopedia, 2nd ed.)

History[]

One of theRepulse's first assignments was to deliver a group ofStarfleetcadets, including theAcademy's firstKlingon recruit CadetWorf, to the colony ofDantar IV. (TNG -Starfleet Academynovel:Line of Fire)

TheRepulse returned to Dantar IV soon after picking up a distress signal from the colony, which had been attacked by theBrikar. From there, the ship journeyed toStarbase 3. (TNG -Starfleet Academynovel:Survival)

In2358,CommanderKatherine Pulaski MD andEnsignElizabeth Shelby were assigned to theRepulse. (STvideo game:Starship Creator Warp II)

In2365, theRepulse rendezvoused with theUSSEnterprise-D in order to facilitate the transfer of Pulaski to theEnterprise. Pulaski returned to theRepulse a year later. (TNGepisode: "The Child",TNGnovel:Vendetta)

In2367, command of theRepulse had been taken over by the original Captain Taggert's daughter, CaptainAriel Taggert. The second Captain Taggert quickly distinguished herself in a three-way battle between Starfleet, theBorg, and an ancientdoomsday machine created by a long-forgotten race and controlled by the mysterious woman namedDelcara. TheRepulse turned the tide in the battle by utilizing thedeflector dish weapon developed by CommandersGeordi La Forge andData earlier that year. (TNGnovel:Vendetta)

In2370, theRepulse transportedAmbassadorLwaxana Troi toAlpha Tiberia when AmbassadorZul of Triannis took ill, necesitating that he be replaced on the negotiating team. (TNGnovelization:All Good Things...)
