Service history[]
In2166, theLindbergh and her sister shipUSSWakefield engaged a fleet ofOrionpirate ships at theBattle of Delta Doradus. Starfleet later credited theLindbergh with the destruction of three Orion ships in the battle. (Decipher RPGmodule:Starfleet Operations Manual)
After her service, theLindbergh was retired to serve as amuseum ship at theFleet Museum.
In the24th century, aKoranov Institutetime window created a temporal paradox when the USSWakefield inadvertently passed through it from2166 and retreated into a dangerousnebula. In order to prevent the paradox, the USSLindbergh was returned to duty andrefit to be operated by acrew of six. Her exterior was refurbished to look like theWakefield.Lindbergh then traveled through the time window back to2166 and assumed Wakefield's place intime. She transmitted a routine report nearPluto, then proceeded to theDelta Doradussystem. She was escorted by a starship which hid behind amoon in the system, which was assigned tobeam out the six crewmen just beforeLindbergh — in its role asWakefield — was destroyed in the battle.
