History[]

In the early25th century, theCallisto was on deep space mission on the edge of theDelta Quadrant, 30,000light-years fromSol. By that time, three years were left in its mission to the Delta Quadrant. Via aclass B itinerant pulsar, theStarfleet Communications Research Center was able to send a datastream to the ship every four days. In 2409, theCallisto discovered an artificial construct larger than an entirestar system.Reginald Barclay of the Communications Research Center theorized it was aDyson sphere. In a message sent toFleet AdmiralJorel Quinn,CaptainVaughn Alexander of the SCRC recommended to dispatch theCallisto to investigate the potential sphere. In theyear2410, Federation researcherSeven of Nine was aboard theCallisto when it was attacked by the automated defense system of a Federationoutpost in theYontasa sector. TheCallisto was destroyed but Seven succeeded in turning off the automated defenses and transported the survivors of theCallisto's complement of 350 to the station. Soon after, anKhitomer Alliance starship arrived in response to a distress call and defended the outpost against attackingVoth ships. The Alliance starship took theCallisto's and outpost's crew aboard and proceeded to theTurei homeworld, which was under attack by theVaadwaur Supremacy. When theTurei were saved by the Alliance and the Voth,USSVoyager arrived in the system and took overCallisto's survivors. Seven permanently joined the crew ofVoyager atRear AdmiralTuvok's request. Alternate realities[]

InMarch2384 of the First Splinter, theCallisto, along with theUSSNogura, was the closest Starfleet ship to thePyrithiastar system. Both ships were ordered toPyrithia IV to seize control of a secretBreen base, its assets and personnel.Security personnel from theCallisto stormed the base with their counterparts from theNogura and theUSSEnterprise-E.
