TheV9-class (also known as the Temar Vastaram-class, translated asNight Flyer-class) was a series ofclass VIRomulancruiserstarships inImperialStar Navy service around the time of the23rdcentury.

Specifications[]

TheTemar Vastaram was created from plans for the olderV-8 class and was crewed 162. These vessels docked twoshuttlecraft, and possessed sixtransporter rooms, with three 9-person personnel transporter stages, two large-scale emergency transporters and a single cargo transporter. TheV9s measure 136meters in length, 190 meters in width and 57 meters in height, with the type-1 vessels having a weight of 67,100metric tons and the type-6 ships upgraded to 70,900 tons. The vessels have a cargo storage capacity of 80SCU (standard cargo units), or 4,000 metric tons. Controlcomputers on board were of the R4M type. TheV9 had two RWC-1warp nacelles, with a cruising speed ofwarp four and a maximum speed ofwarp six. Theimpulse engines were of the RIC-2 type. The ships were defended by RSH typedeflectors. Both variants were equipped with four RB-6disruptoremitters with arcs of fire in all directions, and were also equipped with two forward-facingplasma weapon launchers of the RPL-1 design. Service history and disposition[]

The class entered service in the mid-2260sdecade, aboutreference stardate2/0805. The type-6 variant entered service in the early2270s, on reference stardate2/14. By the mid-2280s, 180 had been constructed and about 160 were still operational. Some had been spotted inthe Trianglesector, while others were known to serve as training vessels forRomulan Intelligence. (FASA RPGmodule:Romulan Ship Recognition Manual)

In the2280s, theNight Flyer cruisersChR Hatham andChR Kalabam were part of the RomulanGallant Quest squadron. In2287, they were atEctair to defend theplanet from an approachingdoomsday machine. (FASA RPGmodule:A Doomsday Like Any Other)
