Service history[]

In theyear2152, theSh'Raan defended theUnited EarthNX-classstarshipEnterprise (NX-01) against a trio ofMazarite warships. TheSh'Raan disabled the starships and rescuedAmbassadorV'Lar. (ENTepisode: "Fallen Hero")

In2154, the reformed Vulcan government lent severalSh'Raan-class combat cruisers to a unitedAndorian-Human-Tellarite-Vulcan fleet in order to put an end toRomulan attacks in the region. OnJuly 22,2155, theVulcan Defense Directorate dispatched twoSh'Raan-class ships, theDDV T'Jal and theDDV Toth, to destroy Romulan-controlledD'Kyr-class combat cruisers attackingHumans inAlpha Centauri Concordium territory. The Romulans later attempted to capture them as well. While theToth successfullydestroyed itself, theT'Jal was captured and brought toAchernar II for study. Specifications[]

TheSh'Raan-class entered service in the22ndcentury and was named for theprototype, theSh'Raan. It was a variant of theSuurok-classscience vessel, which entered service at some point before2136. Both sister classes were also counted as one, calledSuurok- andSurak-class. Unlike the crimson red science vessel, theSh'Raan was copper-colored and faster by half awarp factor. Its surface details differed from the science vessel as well. SomeSh'Raan-class combat cruisers were larger than theirSuurok-class counterparts.

The combat cruiser's hull was elongated and thin. It was surrounded by a hoop-likecoleopteric warp drive, to which it was connected through a cone-shapedsecondary hull. The crew quarters were housed in the secondary hull. Seven rows of brightly lit windows adorned its front. The ship'simpulse engines were located in the back, directly beneath the needle-likeprimary hull. Surface details of different configurations decorated the back of the secondary hull.

A pair oftractor beam emitters could be found on the underside of the primary hull, close to the secondary hull.Navigation lights, also paired, were located between the tractor beam emitters and the ship's bow. The navigation lights were white, whereas the impulse engines glowed red. The color of the warp ring was more purple than blue.

ASh'Raan class was armed withparticle beam weapons andphotonictorpedolaunchers.
