Sector 1607

Sector 1607 was a region ofspace, asector located inthe galaxy'sBeta Quadrant. This sector was in proximity to a section of theRomulan Neutral Zone betweenFederation andRomulan Star Empire territories. (TNGepisode: "The Pegasus")

History and specifics[]

In theyear2370, theFederationstarshipUSSEnterprise-D was ordered to sector 1607 torendezvous with theUSSCrazy Horse, and bring aboardAdmiralErik Pressman.

Pressman, formercaptain of theUSSPegasus, revealed that vessel had been lost in the sector in2358. More recently, a piece of debris from the vessel had been found in the nearbyDevolinstarsystem.

The secrecy of the mission to recover the vessel was due to the fact thatPegasus had performed anillegalcloaking experiment in this sector. Following amutiny, the majority of thecrew was lost and the vessel drifted with an activeinterphase cloaking device into anasteroid field in the Devolin system. ThePegasus was presumed destroyed byStarfleet.

TheEnterprise found thePegasus partially embedded inside anasteroid. CaptainJean-Luc Picard had Pressman arrested for thetreaty violation and announced thePegasus incident to the nearbyRomulanwarbirdIRWTerix. (TNGepisode: "The Pegasus")

The last known position of thePegasus in this sector was depicted inSTreference:Star Charts. It was not made clear in either source if the sector extended into the Neutral Zone or if sector 1607 included other nearby objects depicted on the map. The episode did not make clear whether or not the Devolin system was in the sector, but that is likely.
