The exterior design of this class's hull was hawk-like in appearance, incorporating swept wings positioned at the aft of the vessel, with a beak-like forward section.
The interceptor's armaments included at least one particle cannon mounted on the underside of the hull. The vessel was also equipped with a transporter. (ENTepisode: "Borderland")
A ship of this class was about 150meters long, similar to aUnited EarthNX class vessel. In the2150sdecade, theOrions decorated thehull withnose art and wing paintings. (The Official Starships Collection Issue 163: "Orion Interceptor")
Encounters[]
Knowledge of this starship class was contained in the Vulcan database, but the class remained unknown to Starfleet until May of 2154, when twoOrion interceptors attacked and raided Enterprise NX-01. The two interceptors quickly caught and ambushed Enterprise in the Borderland as it was searching for an Augment-controlledbird-of-prey. Using their transporter, the Orions were able to abduct nine crewmen from Enterprise, including CommanderT'Pol and EnsignJeffrey Pierce, before their escape.

In pursuit ofNX-01.
Later, two Orion interceptors again engaged Enterprise, following its rescue of the abducted crewmembers from Verex III.
They caused moderate damage to Enterprise before the Augments arrived in their commandeered KlingonVo'n'talk-classbird-of-prey, destroying one interceptor and forcing the other to retreat. (ENTepisode: "Borderland")

People of the Open Sky ship.
ThePeople of the Open Sky were subjects ofthe Chain who rejected their society and formed a ragtagfleet. A portion of the fleet consisted of ships of the mid-22nd centuryAlpha andBeta Quadrant cultures. The fleet arriving atDeep Space 9 inNovember2385 included at least one 2150s-era Orion interceptor. In2270,Orion Syndicate leaderMarikk Botarcommanded afleet of Orion interceptors in an attempt to take control of theworld-shipArchernar IV and its powerfulOmega-weapon. The fleet was destroyed by the energy wake left as Archernar IV departed for a differentdimension. (TOS -Mission's Endcomic: "Issue 5")
Alternate timeline[]

An Orion Syndicate interceptor.
In analternate timeline beset by thetemporal anomaly crisis, versions of the interceptor werepulled into the late24th century. Around the year2380, different timelines were interwoven, and the Orion Syndicate interceptor was deployed by various factions forspace combat. The interceptor benefited from its advanced targeting systems and was equipped withdeflector shields. It required 600blueprints for construction.
