TheMutara sector, also known as theGenesis sector, was a region ofspace under the control of the Federation. The sector was of considerable distance from theDelphic Expanse and closely borderedKlingon space.

History[]

It was in2267 that theUSSEnterprise found the driftingSS Botany Bay in the Mutara sector.CaptainJames T. Kirk would later exileKhan Noonien Singh and hisaugment followers to the planetCeti Alpha V which was also located in the sector. (TOSepisode: "Space Seed")

Thissector would also be the location of the destruction of the same USSEnterprise during aKlingon incursion in2285. (TOSnovel:The Better Man;TNGvideo game:Echoes from the Past;TOSmovies:The Wrath of Khan,The Search for Spock;ENTepisode: "Twilight";STreference:Star Charts)

In2360, theUSSOkinawa was to go on maneuvers in the Mutara sector following arefit. (ST -The Lost Eranovel:Catalyst of Sorrows)

In2370, aCardassian fleet was deployed to the Mutara sector when war between theKlingons and Cardassians was brewing. (DS9 -Hearts and Mindscomics: "Into the Abyss", "Masters of War")

In analternate timeline where theXindi destroyedEarth and most its colonies, the Mutara sector would be the region of space in which the last fewhumans took refuge. One convoy of refugee ships would be destroyed by the Xindi near the Mutara system; however, another led by theEnterprise (NX-01) would reach Ceti Alpha V where acolony of less than six thousand humans was established. (ENTepisode: "Twilight")
