Specifications[]

TheKeldon series enlarged and improved upon the successfulGalor-class design to better counter a new generation of designs by theFederation'sStarfleet and other antagonistic states. Starfleet first encountered these vessels in theyear2371, by which time theCardassians had built a considerable number of these ships. TheKeldons were the top Cardassian ships of theDominion War. (Decipher RPGmodule:Starships) TheKeldon advanced was a faster variant of theGalor-class. These improved ships were under the command of theObsidian Order who based them in theOriassystem. Some variants of theKeldon class starships possessedcloaking devices. They were also capable of overloading their own plasma banks to create more powerful weapon discharges. (STvideo game:Armada II)

History[]

The class was in service by2348. (TLE -Terok Nornovel:Night of the Wolves)

In 2371, the Obsidian Order constructed a fleet ofKeldon-class starships. TheMaquis thought the fleet was to be used to attack the Demilitarized Zone and soTom Riker hijacked theUSSDefiant to prove this. The fleet was actually to be used by the Obsidian Order in a joint invasion with theRomulanTal Shiar to attack theDominion. (DS9episodes: "Defiant", "The Die is Cast")

In 2372, aKeldon-class starship was attacked by theKlingons in orbit ofLazon II. (DS9short story: "Promises Made")
