Summary[]
Threemonths afterJadzia'sdeath, much has changed.Benjamin Sisko has taken aleave of absence and returned toEarth andKira Nerys is incommand of thespace station. The invasion ofCardassian territory has stalled and a grievingWorf is angry that theDefiant is only being assigned simple convoy duties.
Kira, recently promoted tocolonel, is troubled by how manyworshippers of thePah-wraiths have appeared on the station. With the collapse of theBajoran wormhole, someBajorans believe thatthe Prophets have abandoned them. Kira has another matter to deal with, asAdmiralWilliam Ross announces that aRomulan contingent, led by asenator calledKimara Cretak, are to establish a presence on the station for the duration of theDominion War.
In his father's restaurant in New Orleans, Sisko is playing the piano when his baseball falls off the piano. As he picks it up, he has a vision of a womans face in the sands of Tyree. Sisko resolves to find the woman. He creates a composite image of the woman, from which Jake recognises her from photographs that Sisko’s father has. When they ask Joseph, he angrily denies knowing the woman.
On DS9, Worf visits Vic’s lounge and when Vic sings “All the Way”, Worf begins destroying tables. Bashir recalls that “All the Way” was Jadzia’s favourite song.
