Fotonovels were a series ofThe Original Seriesepisode adaptations which combined photo stills from the episodes with written dialogue. Twelvebooks were published, as well as two "photostories" which adapted the first twoStar Trekmovies.
John Byrne was inspired by the treatments to create "photoplay" episode adaptations and original stories using a similar format for his ongoingcomic book seriesNew Visions.
