Acommunication array was aFederation space-born installation, a type ofsatellite forcommunication purposes inStarfleet service from the24th century.[1] They could be boarded by anengineering team but operated on automation, withoutcrew.[2] (STO -Common Groundmissions: "B'lii System Patrol", "Traelus System - Satellite Repair")

History and specifications[]

In2388, theStarfleet Corps of Engineers deployed a series ofsubspace boosters in theB'lii system to extend signals from ships exploring theBadlands andRolor Nebula. (STO -Cardassian Strugglemission: "B'lii System Patrol")

During theFederation-Klingon War of 2405-2410 and related conflicts, communication arrays were located instar systems in theAlpha andBeta Quadrants. (STO -Common Groundmissions: "B'lii System Patrol", "Traelus System - Satellite Repair")

In2409, three communication arrays, namedAello,Ocypete andPodarge, gathered intelligence on theKlingons from their location in theTraelus system. TheKlingon Defense Force sabotaged them surreptitiously. AStarfleet detachment sent to repair the satellites byFranklin Drake ofSection 31 was attacked byTrue Way forces, which they destroyed. Later thatyear, a Starfleet ship repaired the seven communication arrays in the B'lii system while repelling True Way forces loitering in the Federation-controlled system. (STO -Cardassian Strugglemission: "B'lii System Patrol")

A communication array was deployed to serve assensor array in theContested Zone of theSolanae Dyson Sphere. Due toVothsabotage, the sensor array was disabled. AnAllied vessel repaired the array. (STO -Solanae Dyson Spheremission: "Repair Damaged Sensor Array")

Onstardate 84999.22, inJanuary2411,Fenris RangerSeven of Nine used theUSSCrow River to investigate data from a Traelus system satellite that indicated aBorg presence. (STO -Legacymission: "Measure of Morality (Part 1)")
