Arin was avedek and laterkai of theBajoranfaith.
In the years leading up to theCardassianOccupation of Bajor he was a vedek and aide to KaiMeressa until her death in2325. (TLE -Terok Nornovel:Day of the Vipers)
By2346 he himself had become kai, with anObsidian Order agent, formerly under the guise asOralianpriestPasir Letin, now posing as the late VedekGar Osen, as his most trusted advisor. When VedekOpaka began advocating the abolition of thed'jarras he, under pressure from Gar, had her expelled.
He was killed by Gar in2348 when he started to believe in Opaka's message and told Gar that he intended to formally support the abolition of the d'jarras. Had he been allowed to do so, the Bajoran people may have stood even more united against their Cardassian oppressors, the exact thing which the Obsidian Order agent had been trying to prevent by preaching continued adherence to the d'jarra system.
