Terry Windell
Terry Windell (18 September1956–21 July2018; age 61) was a director who worked onStar Trek: Voyager andStar Trek: Enterprise.
Windell began his career as a visual effects designer, on films includingE.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982),Poltergeist (1982, with music byJerry Goldsmith and cinematography byMatthew F. Leonetti),Return of the Jedi (1983),Ghostbusters (1984),2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984),Fright Night (1985, withChris Sarandon),Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986, again with music by Goldsmith and cinematography byAndrew Laszlo),The Boy Who Could Fly (1986, withJay Underwood andLouise Fletcher),Solarbabies (1986, with costume design byBob Ringwood), andMasters of the Universe (1987, starringFrank Langella, withRobert Duncan McNeill,Meg Foster,Christina Pickles andAnthony De Longis).
Later in the 1980s, Windell turned his attention to directing TV commercials, and eventually moved into directing television, with theVoyager episode "Gravity" being his first work in that field. He continued directing forVoyager until the end of its run, and also directed a single episode ofEnterprise. Following his work on that show, Windell moved back into visual effects work, including onThe Stepford Wives (2004), and both parts ofThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (2011/2012, withBilly Burke).
In his final years, Windell worked as a visual effects supervisor on various TV shows, includingWayward Pines,Turn: Washington's Spies andThe Tick. He died on July 21, 2018.[1](X)
