Dr.Erin Macdonald is an astrophysicist, aerospace engineer, and science fiction consultant. She has served as the science adviser for theStar Trek franchise since 2019, and worked in this capacity on thethird throughfifth seasons ofStar Trek: Discovery, thesecond andthird seasons ofStar Trek: Lower Decks, thesecond andthird seasons ofStar Trek: Picard, and the entireStar Trek: Prodigy andStar Trek: Strange New Worlds series.

She also wrote the children's bookStar Trek: My First Book of Space released in 2022. She was also a contributing writer for theStar Trek Adventures second edition core rulebook.

She also voiced her in-universe namesake, the characterDoctorErin Macdonald in theStar Trek: Prodigyfirst season episode "Supernova, Part 2" and thesecond season episodes "Temporal Mechanics 101" and "Ouroboros, Part II". The fictional Doctor Erin was also mentioned inLD: "First First Contact".[1]

Aside fromProdigy, she has also voiced the in-universe Doctor ErinErin Macdonald (β) inStar Trek Online.

She appeared inTRR: "Memento Mori" in a segment "The Science ofStar Trek with Dr. Erin Macdonald" to explain the science behind brown dwarf stars, gravity wells, escape velocity, gravitational redshift, and black holes as depicted inSNW: "Memento Mori".
