Richard "Dick" Ramon Brownfield (10 March1938–26 May2022; age 84) worked, while employed byDesilu Productions as part ofJim Rugg's team in a junior position, on the special effects throughout the run ofStar Trek: The Original Series, including the first pilot episode "The Cage", though uncredited as was usual in that era. Subsequently, in the employment ofParamount Television, he worked in the same capacity, now as a senior special effects staffer, on the entire run ofStar Trek: The Next Generation. WhenThe Next Generation ended, he moved on toStar Trek: Voyager and worked on thefirst throughsixth seasons. He was also the special effects coordinator for thevideo gameStar Trek: Borg.
CaptainDick Brownfield was named for him and appeared on a number ofdedication plaques for various starships.
Brownfield has been featured in the 1995documentaries,Star Trek: Voyager - Inside the New Adventure andE! Inside Star Trek: Voyager.
