Bill Smitrovich (born16 May1947; age 78) is an actor who playedMichael Webb in theStar Trek: Deep Space Ninethird season episodes "Past Tense, Part I" and "Past Tense, Part II".

Smitrovich is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of Drew Thatcher onLife Goes On. Smitrovich starred in this series for all of its four seasons (1989-93). Prior to this, he was a regular onNBC'sCrime Story, where he played Detective Danny Krychek.

Four years afterLife Goes On, Smitrovich had a recurring role as Bob "Bletch" Bletcher inMillennium, on whichTerry O'Quinn was a regular. Smitrovich had previously co-starred with O'Quinn inWithout a Trace (1983, withJacqueline Brookes,Ted Sorel,Thomas Kopache,Stephen Mendillo,Freda Foh Shen,Paul Collins andTerry O'Quinn),Silver Bullet (1985, withLeon Russom andLawrence Tierney), andGhosts of Mississippi (1996, co-starringWhoopi Goldberg,Susanna Thompson,Brock Peters,Richard Riehle, andBill Cobbs).

Smitrovich's early film credits also includeSplash (1984, starringTom Hanks, withClint Howard,Charles Macaulay,Jill Jacobson,Christopher Thomas,Valerie Wildman, andPatrick Cronin),Manhunter (1986),Renegades (1989, co-starringRobert Knepper),Her Alibi (1989, withWilliam Daniels). Additionally, Smitrovich made two guest appearances onMiami Vice, one in 1984 and another in 1985. His "Past Tense" co-starFrank Military was a writer for that series. Smitrovich later made guest appearances on such television shows asMurder, She Wrote (withGregory Itzin),NYPD Blue (starringGordon Clapp andSharon Lawrence),Fantasy Island (1998, starringMalcolm McDowell andMädchen Amick, withLouise Fletcher),24 (withRoger R. Cross),The Nine (starringJohn Billingsley),Eli Stone (withEthan Phillips), andDesperate Housewives (starringTeri Hatcher).

From 2001 through 2003, Smitrovich had a recurring role as Assistant District Attorney Kenneth Welsh onThe Practice. He also made two additional appearances as Walsh in 2004. During his time on this show, Smitrovich worked with suchStar Trek performers asEarl Boen,Ellen Bry,Alan Dale,Eve H. Brenner,Richard Cox,Bari Hochwald,Clyde Kusatsu,John Larroquette,Virginia Madsen,Mark Margolis,Dakin Matthews,Carolyn McCormick,Richard McGonagle,Mark Moses,Alan Oppenheimer,Andrew Robinson,Cristine Rose,Jennifer Savidge,Mark L. During his time onThe Practice, Smitrovich was also starring as Inspector Cramer onNero Wolfe (withNicky Guadagni andSaul Rubinek), which ran for 29 episodes from 2001 through 2002. He also had roles inFail Safe (2001, withJames Cromwell andNorman Lloyd), andThe Reagans (2003).

Smitrovich later co-starred withPatrick Stewart inThe Game of Their Lives (2005) and had a supporting role inParamount Pictures'Iron Man (2008, withFaran Tahir). His later films includeFlash of Genius (2008), andSeven Pounds (2008), both co-starringTim Kelleher.

From 2004 to 2008, Smitrovich recurred as Special Agent Alexander Olczyk onCBS'Without a Trace, starringEnrique Murciano andEric Close. OtherStar Trek actors he worked with on this show includeJohn Cothran, Jr.,John Doman,Claudette Nevins, andJennifer S. Parsons.

As a Screen Actors Guild (now SAG-AFTRA) member, Smitrovich worked in several positions for this union and in 2009 was voted to serve as SAG National Board alternate and to the Hollywood Division Board of Directors.[1]

Between 2017 and 2018, Smitrovich appeared as Tom Carrington in three episodes ofDynasty, working alongsideAlan Dale.
