The positive integers are the numbers 1, 2, 3, ... (OEISA000027), sometimes called thecounting numbers ornatural numbers, denotedZ^+.

They are the solution to the simplelinearrecurrence equation

 a_n=a_(n-1)+1

witha_1=1.

A plot of the first few positive integers represented as a sequence of binary bits is shown above. The top portion showsS_1 toS_(255), and the bottom shows the next 510 values.
