Synopsis for "Absolute Power (Part 3)"
Two months ago, Jean soared through space using her new Phoenix powers and passed over numerous planets until she was stopped by Silver Surfer, who told her she was causing chaos on the planets she'd passed.
When asked what she's looking for, Jean replies "Heaven". In the present, Jean is running a Danger Room session with Hank, Ororo, Bobby and Liz, pushing them harder and harder, to Liz's disgust and annoyance.
While Bobby correctly points out that Jean merely wants to prevent any of them from also using Banshee, Liz keeps whining about the increased training.
Jean then scolds Bobby for goofing around as usual, only for Bobby to scoff at the thought he might die, pointing out that Jean can bring any of them back to life.
As Jean begins to reply, however, she receives a telepathic distress call from Kurt in Genosha, who reveals he, Rogue, Scott, Dazzler, Angel and Colossus are in a battle with some of the Acolytes.
Though Jean thinks they can handle said team, Nightcrawler admits that he means that the Banshee-poisoned X-Men need saving from themselves as they'd actually come to steal the Acolytes' supply of Banshee due to their addiction.
Hearing this, Jean tries to encourage him to say something. However, Kurt admits he's afraid to do so due to how erratic Piotr and Scott've been acting lately.
In the Danger Room, Iceman and Liz try to snap Jean out of her trance, to no avail. Back with Jean and Kurt, Scott comes across the conversation and reveals not only his new flight ability and control over his optic blasts, but that he can also see Jean's astral form.
Scott then takes out said form, causing Jean to careen around the Danger Room before Hank catches her. Snapping out of it, Jean tells the four that they need to find their corrupt friends and save them before they kill themselves.
In the Bronx, Spider-Man and Kitty are shown taking on a group of thugs, who Spidey dubs "Screamers". When asked by Shadowcat, Peter explains the nickname is because said group is addicted to Banshee, to Kitty's annoyance as they finish off the thugs.
Just as the final member prepares to inject himself with Banshee and fight them, Wolverine takes him out by stabbing him and reveals he'd been looking for Spider-Man to help him with something.
At Peter's house, Logan explains he wants Peter to conduct a test on his DNA, revealing that, while he's never used it, he somehow tested positive for Banshee himself and he wants to know why.
Though Peter points out that Reed Richards or Bruce Banner could've helped, especially Banner, Logan counters with the fact that either one or both of said men would've immediately turned him to S.H.I.E.L.D. if he'd tried asking them.
Aside from that, Wolverine reminds Peter that he'd literally been in Spider-Man's head a while back and openly acknowledges his high intelligence, to the latter's joking response.
As Peter keeps studying the DNA sample, Logan and Kitty catch up, with Kitty revealing she'd read the letter Bobby had given her a while back and amazed at what Logan had said about her.
After a moment, Spider-Man reveals the shocking truth: the reason that Logan tested positive for Banshee despite never using it is because the root drug in it is based on Logan's own DNA, so someone's literally been using him.
Seeing the enraged look on Wolverine's face, Peter initially assumes Logan's going to kill him, only for the furious Logan to calmly reply it isn't Spider-Man he's going to harm.
Jean then telepathically alerts Logan that she and the others had tracked Scott and Colossus and are planning to end everything right now. As the X-Jet arrives, Kitty offers to come, only for Wolverine to gently but firmly object, simply telling the dismayed Shadowcat that he doesn't want her to see what he's going to do in the upcoming fight.
Meanwhile, Colossus and Scott have a private conversation while the others gather around a fire. While Cyclops believes that he's pushing the group too much, Colossus expresses confidence that they can handle it.
It's then revealed that their latest batch of Banshee isn't pure, and Scott suggests going to Piotr's supplier, though Colossus denies this idea as he doesn't have any money.
Cyclops also mentions Jean and Kurt's conversation during the battle with the Acolytes and that he was going to betray Colossus and the others while mentioning how Jean is very determined to shut Banshee down for good.
While Colossus is enraged by Scott's confession, the latter replies that he does believe in the good they're doing but that they need to be perfect. Colossus then accuses Scott of believing that one of them will die and that he thinks it's Piotr's fault Jean-Paul's seemingly dead.
Before things can go any farther, Colossus falls on his face, thanks to Iceman as he, Jean, Beast, Firestar, Wolverine and Storm charge into the building.
A vicious fight then breaks out between the two groups with Scott blasting Jean across the barn as Logan battles Dazzler, who sports her own solid-light claws for their duel, Beast goes up against Warren and Kurt fights Firestar by teleporting nonstop around her, confusing her.
As Wolverine starts battling Rogue after he floors Alison and the recovered Colossus begins clashing with Ororo, Jean tries to get the fighting to stop before Scott hits her with another optic blast.
As this happens, Jean encounters the ghost of her now deceased father, who reveals Jean had been looking for Heaven to bring him back before he berates himself for never being a good father despite Jean having pushed herself to earn his love and approval over the years, even as he died.
Despite this, he admits that, even if he hadn't died, all of his mistakes with Jean would've remained intact and adds she can't save him, but he deserves it, warning her that if she doesn't snap out of it, the X-Men are going to suffer before she falls back to reality.
Seeing this as Piotr catches Jean, the now very enraged Logan attacks Piotr, blaming the whole mess on his foolish use of Banshee as he hacks and slashes Peter's chest nonstop before finally cooling down.
To everybody's shock and horror, the equally horrorstruck Piotr simply asks Logan what he's done as he holds what appears to be his now armor encased heart in his hands, a huge hole in his chest.
