Isn't it every kid'sdream to live in a treehouse?

Ben Urich[source]

TheTreehouse was the new headquarters and residence of theX-Men located nearCentral Park inManhattan.[2]

History

After the decision was made to recreate theX-Men, plans began for a new headquarters. TheWhite Queen purchased a large plot of land at the southwest corner ofCentral Park 86th Street Transverse. Meanwhile,Cyclops andMarvel Girl met withForge,Cypher, andKrakoa to collaborate on the design of theTreehouse, which was initially grown on Krakoa.[2]

The newly opened Treehouse

Overnight, the existing structures were silently taken down and the miniature Treehouse was planted. Using her temporal powers,Tempo grew the Treehouse to its full size in a very short time. In the morning, the X-Men were able to unveil the Treehouse andSeneca Gardens to the world.[2]

Not long after opening,Gambit hosted a poker game withThe Thing,Black Cat, andRhino much to the displeasure ofRogue.[3] Despite Rogue's objections, Gambit continued to host his clandestine poker nights (though Rhino was subbed out for Forge).[4]

When he outlawed superhero vigilantes inNew York City,Mayor Fisk sentU.S.Agent and hisThunderbolts to the Treehouse to force theX-Men to leave. While the X-Men delayed U.S.Agent,Emma Frost andHarry Leland petitioned theUnited Nations to have the Treehouse recognized as a consulate of the sovereign nation ofKrakoa. Because the X-Men were posted at the consulate, they could not be forced out of New York.[5]

During the invasion of New York bydemons ofLimbo led by theGoblin Queen andChasm, the Treehouse was left unharmed as the Goblin Queen had previously sworn to never attackKrakoa. Because the Treehouse was unharmed, the X-Men used it as a safe haven for evacuating civilians.[6]

On the night of the thirdHellfire Gala, asoldier working forOrchis infiltrated the Treehouse to steal thebattlefield uniform of Captain Krakoa. Although Cyclops intercepted him, the thief was able to obtain the suit, throw Cyclops to his apparent death, and set the Treehouse on fire, nearly destroying it.[7][8] The burnt-down Treehouse was left abandoned following Orchis' downfall. AtEmma Frost's request,Iron Man erected a monument at the foot of the landmark; a memorial honoring Orchis' victims.[9]
