Name

Appearing after theWild Sentinels's attack onGenosha, causing the death of over sixteen million people, principallymutants (as well as humans such asShadowcat's fatherCarmen Pryde), Purity is a group of anti-mutant militants. They were active on the internet and in the field, delivering flyers, provoking riots on campus, and even murdering people.

They were shown to be present atEmpire State University,^[3]New York City andUniversity of Chicago,^[5]Chicago (Illinois). In ESU, the webmaster explained toChamber their strategy: humiliating mutants to make them feel like outcasts and leave, instead of killing them which would make the victims martyrs.^[6]

Mekanix[]

In Chicago,Tom More hacked, under the direction ofAlice Tremaine, into the system of the class project ofAdvanced Physics Tutorial, a device create by the Nobel laureateSimon Benes andKitty Pryde, among others. The failure of the system caused massive destruction in the city.^[7]

Tom More participated in the rescue, and was saved by the mutant genoshanShola Inkose, witnessing him using his mutation. After this, and learning his role into the massive accident, Tom distanced himself from the organization's leader and his lover, Alice Tremaine.

Purity assaulted Shola's flat, deserted by him but visited by Kitty andShan, who were looking for the mutant too. Both Tom More and Shola appeared to save the two mutants and Shan's sister and brother from the assailants.^[8]

During a students' confrontation on a decree to ban mutants or Purity from the University,Wild Sentinels attacked the students center, considering everybody as "potential mutants".

While Tom More definitively quit his anti-mutant ideology and helped Kitty, Shan and Shola, Alice Tremaine fled and found a damaged sentinel, who recognized her as a true human and authorized her as a user. Alice went back to her parents' house to repair the robot.

Purity outedDavid Alleyne to his parents, then attempted to attack him; David was rescued by the librarian at his school, the former New Mutant Karma, and her former teammateDani Moonstar.^[9]

AfterM-Day, they were no longer afraid to enterMutant Town, where they went looking for mutants expelled fromThe Xavier's Institute, which had been turned by theO.N.E. and theX-Men into a safe haven for mutants.^[4]

They assaultedLorelei next to theWildkat Nightclub, cutting her mutant hair, beforeToad came to her rescue and brought her to the Xavier Institute.
