The American branch of theWhite Lotus Society, the Savage Tigers ofNew York, operated out of builing owned by the Pearl of Shadowed Enlightenment. It was a three-story warehouse located at Pier 61 on downtown toward the Battery. Inside was a 30 ft golden statue of the Buddha, which had been stolen fromLaos by theP.L.A.. The White Lotus Society brought it to the United States. When thePunisher and his temporary allies, theRoyal Cobras arrived at the warehouse, they were forced to do battle with the Savage Tigers, the local branch of the White Lotus. After a ferocious fight that resulted in losses on both sides, the Savage Tigers were defeated. The golden statue of Buddha was returned to Laos.^[1]
