Becoming Spider-Man[]

Pavitr Prabhakar, a poor Indian boy, lived in a village, but moves toMumbai with hisaunt Maya anduncle Bhim to study after getting half a scholarship. His parents died some years earlier. Other boys at the school teased him and beat him. He knew his uncle Bhim was struggling to support him and his aunt Maya, and pay the school. OnlyMeera Jain, a girl from school, befriended him. Meanwhile,Nalin Oberoi, a local crimelord, used an amulet to perform an ancient ritual during which he was possessed by a demon committed to opening the gate for other demons to reach to Earth. While being chased by other kids, Pavitr encountered an ancient yogi who gave him the power of a spider to fight the evil threatening the world. While discovering his powers, Pavitr refused to help a woman being attacked by several men. He left the place, but returned when he heard his uncle's cry out, having been stabbed when he tried to help the woman. Thus Pavitr came to understand that with great power comes great responsibility.

Next, Nalin Oberoi became human again, transformed his doctor intoDoctor Octopus (though rather than the usualmechanical arms, he had demon arms that looked similar to his mechanical arms), and sent him to kill Spider-Man, as instructed by the demonic voices. Doc Ock failed, and Spider-Man made it into the newspapers where he was deemed a threat.

Oberoi kidnapped Meera Jain and Aunt Maya, taking them both to a refinery outside Mumbai. There he betrayed Doctor Octopus, blasting him away with a ray. Spider-Man arrived and fought Oberoi, who let both aunt Maya and Meera fall. Spider-Man dove for his aunt, but then failed to rescue Meera, who was saved by Doctor Octopus coming back to exact revenge on Oberoi. Pavitr revealed his identity to Meera and asked her to take his aunt away.

Oberoi got rid of Doctor Octopus for good, and touched Spider-Man with the amulet. AVenom-like creature tried to turn Spider-Man to the dark side, but he remembered his uncle and rejected the evil. By doing so, the link between the demons and Oberoi was shattered, and he became human again.

Everything went back to normal, Spider-Man got the girl, and celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with his aunt.^[5]

Spider-Verse[]

Spider-Man was among the heroes summoned toEarth-TRN1070 byAnansi the Spider God. Banding together as theWeb Warriors, they aided the nativeWeb-Slinger in defending his reality from asymbiote invasion.^[3]

Sometime later, Spider-Man encounteredSuperior Spider-Man, who saved him from certain death at the hands ofKarn. He joined the team of Spider-Men from many dimensions to battle theInheritors.^[6] Pavitr was also recruited by theS.H.I.E.L.D. ofEarth-41940 into theSpider-Men, a group of Spider-Man analogs, to help battle the Inheritors.^[3]

Upon arriving inEarth-3145 and meeting this reality'sBen Parker, Pavitr suffered an existential crisis regarding to the overwhelming number of similarities between himself and the other Spider-Totems, especially thePeter Parker ofEarth-616, in which Pavitr felt like he and the others were echoes or distorted reflections of the Earth-616 Peter, and therefore expendable in the coming battle against the Inheritors. However, his worries were refuted bySpider-UK, who stated that each Spider-Man is unique and special in their own way.^[7] Pavitr then participated in the final battle with the Inheritors and survived.^[8]

Web Warriors[]

After the defeat of the Inheritors, Pavitr joined the newWeb-Warriors.^[9] Shortly after its formation, the team had to face theElectroverse, an army ofElectro that raged across theMultiverse.^[10] The Electro reachedtheir base, and after a fight the spiders retreated toEarth-803.^[11] There Pavitr created a communicator with which they lured the Electroverse to Earth-803.^[12] The team later discovered an ongoing demonic invasion intoPavitr's world and managed to foil it.^[13]

The Web-Warriors also responded to a distress call fromSpider-Punk, savinghis world from an invasion,^[14] but due toweb of life and destiny problems Pavitr,Spider-Ham, andSpider-Man noir found themselves inthe world of the latter and Pavitr sensed that the worlds for some reason were intertwining.^[15] The three decided to questionHarry Osborn,^[16] but he attacked them by surprise and defeated them.^[17] Osborn took them to the World of the Loom, but in the end thanks to the involuntary help of the rest of the team, Ham, who had eluded him, managed to defeat him.^[18]
