Stryfe's Mutant Terrorists[]
The team seemed mainly organized of disillusioned, anarchicmutant youths.Stryfe founded the group sometime after coming to the 20th century (from roughly 2,000 years in the future). They were likely assembled as a tool while Stryfe assembled his master plan.[1] The exact size of the organization is unknown, but they were seen to have had several advanced bases around the world, and employed a number of presumably human guards.
In their first public terrorist raid, the Mutant Liberation Front had a mission rescuingRusty andSkids, twoNew Mutants who had been captured by theFreedom Force and kept captive by the government.[2] The squad was formed by the viciousWildside, the time-manipulatingTempo, the wickedReaper, the brutalForearm, the exquisiteStrobe, the imperiousThumbelina, and the enigmatic teleporterZero. Their attempt at infiltrating the base was successful, andRusty andSkids joined then, even after they were intercepted by the resourcefulCable, Stryfe's archnemesis.[3] Following this incident, Cable took supervision over the other New Mutants.[4] Under his leadership, the youngster mutants tackled Stryfe's operations inMadripoor, which involved poisoning major cities of the world. The agentsDragoness,Sumo, andKamikaze confronted the New Mutants and the atomic knightSunfire, when Stryfe revealed himself on field.[5] With the assistance ofWolverine, the New Mutants defeated Stryfe and the Mutant Liberation Front, forcing a retreat and destroying the poison supplies.[6]
Stryfe's next mission tasked the Mutant Liberation Front of attacking the country ofGenosha, which employed mutant slave labour.[7] However, Cable, who had reformed the New Mutants as the lethalX-Force invaded their base inAntarctica. Stryfe chose to escape, terminating his base to cover his leave.[8] Maintaining their criminal activities, the Mutant Liberation Front clashed withKane inCanada,[9] when Stryfe made public that he was a version of Cable, which caused Kane to strike at Cable and X-Force later on.[10] The Mutant Liberation Front also freed theNasty Boys from captivity, leading them to clash withX-Factor, a mutant government operation.[11] Their next mission was to destroy theTucker Clinic, where pregnant parents had access to DNA testing to check whether or not their children were mutants. Thanks to an anonymous tip, Dr. Tucker was informed in advance and X-Factor was contacted to prevent the terrorist attack. Dr. Tucker was still murdered and his data destroyed. Unbeknownst to all, the tip had been provided by Tempo, who was possibly Tucker's daughter.[12]
Reign of Fire[]
After the organization was dismantled, some of the imprisoned were liberated and recruited by a mysterious villain namedReignfire, who was believed to be a futuristic version of Sunspot. Already among the ranks of the new MLF were former New Mutant memberMoonstar (undercover on behalf ofS.H.I.E.L.D.) andLocus. X-Force'sFeral also defected to the MLF, and Tempo betrayed them one more time and went her own way. After a few minor missions, including a group that infiltratedMuir Island to obtain information on theLegacy Virus, the group was captured by members ofOperation: Zero Tolerance.[citation needed]
Krakoa[]
The MLF relocated toKrakoa to be a part of the mutant nation.[13]
Fall of X[]
Following theOrchis takeover of Krakoa and the banishment of most of mutantkind on Earth, a new Mutant Liberation Front was formed byCaptain Krakoa, whom its members believed to beCyclops. He recruited the Blob and Wildside before rescuing theFenris Twins from thePit. At an anti-mutant rally inWashington, D.C., the group was confronted by theAvengers Unity Division, rebuilt byCaptain America to fight Orchis and stop Captain Krakoa's actions.[14]Paraphernalia
