The Challenger was a demon sent bySatan (Mephisto) to return theGhost Rider toHell.[1] When the Ghost Rider and theSon of Satan tried to exorcise the demonLegion from the body ofKaty Milner, the Challenger appeared and challenged the Ghost Rider to a deadly race for the life of Katy and his own.[2] Even though the Ghost Rider failed the challenge, he managed to defeat the demon using his hellfire, causing the spell over Katy Milner to fade and revealing her to actually be Roxanne Simpson.[1]
