Alexei Romanov was a boyAva Orlova frequently dreamed about while living on the streets ofBrooklyn, although she did not know whom he was.^[2]

Going by the foster name, Alex Manor, he was later revealed to be the younger brother ofBlack Widow super spyNatasha Romanoff, born inStalingrad during the fall of theSoviet Union.^[1]

After Natasha started to work atS.H.I.E.L.D., she wiped both their memories duringProject: Blank Slate, gave Alexei his new foster name, and assigned a fellow Agent to go undercover as his foster mother and take care of him under the aliasMarilyn Manor.^[1]

Alex started fencing not long after, where met the equally competitiveDante Cruz, and in no time they were inseparable best friends, getting into a series of stupid fights, such as arm wrestling during Dante’s sister's Christmas Party.^[1]

During their last tournament together, Alex met Ava Orlova and reunited with his sister the Black Widow, though they did not know they were siblings due to the previous mind wipe. Later, when he and Ava escaped theTriskelion and fled toUkraine, Alex discovered his true identity and past, then finally understood where all those nightmares had come from and why he had woken up with a mysterious hourglass-shaped tattoo.^[1]

Sadly after Alexei reunited with his sister, he passed away soon after during a mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. toSultanahmet where the trio battled withIvan Somorodov beneathIstanbul,Turkey.^[3] Alex left behind his fencing swords, which were claimed by his girlfriend, the Red Widow.^[1]
