New wishbone spider species described in Zootaxa featured in a story by Miami Herald
2025-10-06A new species of wishbone spider, Damarchus inazuma, has been described in Thailand byKunseteet al. (2025), accompanied by the first documentation of a gynandromorphic individual within this family. The specific epithet "inazuma" was chosen due to the species' resemblance to the character Inazuma from the manga series "One Piece". This discovery was featured ina story by the Miami Herald.

2025-08-19Dr Graham Brown revised the Australian Thynnidae and Tiphiidae in a 862-page monograph. Most species are placed in Thynnidae (75 valid genera including 18 new and 817 valid described species of which 116 are new) while the Tiphiidae is limited to a single species (Tiphia intrudens).

2025-02-13Two new species of eelpout genus Lycenchelys Gill, 1884 were described in aZootaxa paper by Ralf Thiel et al. (2025) from specimens caught at a depth between 3517 and 3580 m at the western slope of the upper margin of the Kuril-Kamchatka Trench, relatively close to the Bussol Strait and Simushir Island in the center of the Kuril Islands chain. This discovery was featured ina story by Miami Herald.

The naming of the new species is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter book series."
