PROLOG        top

       This manual page is part of the POSIX Programmer's Manual.  The       Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the       corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or       the interface may not be implemented on Linux.

NAME        top

       raise — send a signal to the executing process

SYNOPSIS        top

       #include <signal.h>       int raise(intsig);

DESCRIPTION        top

       The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with       the ISO C standard. Any conflict between the requirements       described here and the ISO C standard is unintentional. This       volume of POSIX.1‐2017 defers to the ISO C standard.       Theraise() function shall send the signalsig to the executing       thread or process.  If a signal handler is called, theraise()       function shall not return until after the signal handler does.       The effect of theraise() function shall be equivalent to calling:           pthread_kill(pthread_self(), sig);

RETURN VALUE        top

       Upon successful completion, 0 shall be returned. Otherwise, a non-       zero value shall be returned anderrno shall be set to indicate       the error.

ERRORS        top

       Theraise() function shall fail if:EINVALThe value of thesig argument is an invalid signal number.The following sections are informative.

       The term ``thread'' is an extension to the ISO C standard.
