Dear Student,
The University community is, we are sure, aware of the ongoing encampment in Old College Quad in connection with the conflict in Israel and Palestine. We wanted to write to update our whole University community about the discussions that have been taking place with our students, and the commitments that we have made as a University.
We obviously would like to see the current protest come to a peaceful end and we recognise that this will require effective engagement. We have initiated conversations with a professional mediator, external to the University to help this process, and are open to considering other mechanisms to continue the open and honest conversations, but also to ensure that these can happen at a pace that reflects the urgency of the situation.
