Named by the discoverer (RI 369) in honor of Grigory N. Neujmin (1885–1946), astronomer at the Pulkovo and Simeis Observatories. Neujmin discovered seven comets and more than 70 minor planets. (H 106) p ]Neujmin is also honored by a lunar crater.
