Abstract
The lessons learned from over 10 years of conflict have changed the way we provide services to not only the National Guard, but to all geographically dispersed military members and their families. This chapter provides a historic look at the encounters faced by the families of what would eventually include over 700,000 deployments in the National Guard alone. It covers the organizational response and lessons learned as we implemented various programs and partnerships. In addition, it provides recommendations for future consideration and development.
