Abstract
In this chapter, we will discuss the performance of solid-state drives (SSDs). We will start by defining some of the key performance metrics, such as IOPS, throughput, and latency. We will then discuss the factors that can impact the performance of an SSD, such as the memory type, memory architecture, memory controller, and firmware. Finally, we will discuss some of the strategies that can be used to boost the performance of an SSD through firmware design and implementation.
