Star Trek: Voyager – Inside the New Adventure was a special documentary, running for 50 minutes, produced by BECK-OLA Productions for broadcasting by UPN on 9 January 1995, the week prior to the premiere of Star Trek: Voyager. Hosted by Robert Picardo, the program went behind the scenes at the making of the pilot episode, "Caretaker", as well as the creation of the series itself. Segments included interviews with the cast and crew, as well as a "day-in-the-life" feature following Ethan Phillips during the filming of the Ocampa desert scenes.

A little hit of nostalgia, recapturing the excitement of a new Star Trek show before expectations met reality. Not that Voyager was ever bad. It was undoubtedly better than Enterprise and a near work of genius compared to the trash fire that is "modern" Trek. Yet it also brought us Threshold and a substantial selection of poorly handled characters.
One thing of note is the hullabaloo around having a "female" captain. I remember seeing this back in 1995, and even then, I was uncomfortable with how much of a big deal they were making about it. This was partly a marketing ploy ("How is this different?"), but even more so, we clearly had a long way to go in 1995.…
FUCK YEAH I LOVE VOYAGER SO MUCH
