Back on the parisian riots of march 2006. By crossing the points of view between the individual, the crowd, the mass, this film tries to draw from the TV coverage some more nuanced, more troubled perception. "Milling around" projects us in the center of the action by keeping us strangly remote at the same time.

Je comprends le geste mais la distance retranscrite ne permet pas la moindre réflexion ni le moindre engagement (politique ou esthétique)
ACAB nonobstant
There's something about the distance at which this is filmed that's super interesting. As though Triet is using her camera as a spotlight to follow movement on a stage. It's distinctly interested (as in, not disinterested) in what's happening while also surprisingly curious about how people move in groups and individually, organized by structure or organic flow. There's also a real interest in how the press is playing a distinct role in the protests.
Struggled a bit with the context of the whole thing but great docu. Unique style. Beautifully filmed. Woke up some old traumatic feelings from the time I was a news cameraman at a covid protest. Shaken in my chair, on the verge of crying, angry, scared. Eventhough it was almost all in a same wide shot. This is more an experience based film
