  I know it’s fun to hate on this movie, but I’ll go out and say this isn’t as bad as everyone says it is.

  Maybe the Marvel fatigue has clouded my judgment, but in retrospect, it really is nice to see a classic superhero origin story with (for its time) good visual effects, a charismatic lead performance (we do not appreciate how solid of a casting Ryan Reynolds was as Hal Jordan), and really cool casting for the primary antagonist (Peter Sarsgaard is a fucking legend and he makes a bad role something pretty interesting).

  Overall, this isn’t shit. It’s a very hollow and mindlessly entertaining B-movie that actually has something fun to offer its audience.

  Everybody makes fun of how he's weak against the color yellow but much funnier in my view is that the bad guy in this looks like a Cthulhu monster made out of cat hairballs. But whatever the point isn't that this is dorky, it's that it doesn't lean in to the dorky stuffenough. It doesn't help matters that this was clearly cut to shreds in the attempt to make it seem cool.

  When it comes to superhero films, you’ve got the underrated ones like:The First Avenger, GOTG2, TDK Rises, Batman Returns,and even Age of Ultron.On the other hand, you got the overrated ones like:Far From Home, Ragnarok, The Snyder Cut,and yes, evenThe Dark Knight.In addition, there are the overhated ones too, like: Ang Lee’sHulk,the mcu’sThe Incredible Hulk,Iron Man 2,and even Thor: The Darkfucking World
