Intercollegiate transfers
A change of college affiliation to LAS can be made roughly during the same time periods as curriculum and major changes within LAS. These ICT/curriculum change periods have been expanded in LAS to several weeks at midterm and at the beginning of each academic year.
Please be advised that some variations in policy and procedures exist in other colleges on campus. Always consult directly with the intended receiving college for information and approval. Several LAS majors have special grade-point average or other criteria that must be met. All students seeking transfer to any other LAS major must have completed at least one course in the intended major, with a minimum 2.00 major GPA. Before changing colleges, students will be required to have completed at least one year (one semester for transfer students) in their present college.

Policies and procedures
Students intending to transfer into LAS from another college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign mustview an informational video before applying online. After watching the video, you will receive an email containing a link to the ICT Request Form.
Note: For changes effective Fall 2021 and beyond, courses used to satisfy declaration criteria must be taken for a letter grade, not PZ/NZ.
- No student may initiate more than one intercollegiate transfer change within each course registration period.
- Students who wish to be "undeclared" in the Division of General Studies are encouraged to make an appointment with an academic advisor in that program to personally review requirements for the transfer.
- Intercollegiate transfer applicants must meet both the general criteria for admission to LAS and all curricular declaration requirements in their major of choice at the time of the intercollegiate transfer application. Students must begin to pursue coursework immediately in their declared major, and will be audited for academic progress according to their declared major.
- International students should consult with an advisor in International Student and Scholar Services after initiating any intercollegiate transfer or curricular change.
- NCAA athletes should consult with DIA and departmental advisors prior to initiating an intercollegiate transfer within LAS.
- Students interested in the LAS/Combined Engineering Program or a second degree in LAS must petition the college for approval. Apply for admission to second degree candidacy.
Students who entered U of I as freshmen:
- must remain in the college to which they were admitted for one academic year (The earliest opportunity to apply is the midterm intercollegiate transfer period during their second term of enrollment.);
- must have maintained a U of I cumulative GPA of 2.00 and have achieved an academic record that places them in good standing in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (calculated at LAS offices during application process); and
- must meet the curricular declaration criteria for the respective LAS major at time of intercollegiate transfer application.
Students who were initially admitted to other U of I colleges as transfer students:
- may not initiate an intercollegiate transfer application to LAS during their first semester of enrollment at U of I (One semester of full-time enrollment at U of I must be completed in order to apply for intercollegiate transfer to LAS.);
- must have earned a transfer GPA (based on all courses taken off the U of I Urbana campus) of 2.70 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 2.00 at U of I at Urbana-Champaign, and an academic record that places them in good standing in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (calculated at LAS offices during application process); and
- must meet the curricular declaration criteria for the respective LAS major at time of intercollegiate transfer application.
CS+X
While CS+X curricula are open for intercollegiate/interdepartmental transfer, students who are not directly admitted to a CS+X major must be admitted to a CS+X major by their sixth term of enrollment, including terms completed at other institutions of post-secondary education.
CS+X Information Sessionsare required for students intending to apply to a CS+X major (including Math/CS and Stat/CS). After watching the required video and completing the CS+X Info Session Viewing Verification, you will receive an email containing a link to the LAS CS+X application.
Please note that the application period for CS+X majors is different than other LAS majors. Applications are accepted during the months of February and September; details are presented during CS+X information sessions.
