790 KABC: UCLA Bruins’ New Official Radio Home
August 30 marks UCLA Bruins Audio Network’s first day at Talk Radio 790 KABC, UCLA’s new flagship station

Cumulus Media’s KABC-AM 790 will be the Bruins’ new official radio home, according to a release published on August 21. This multi-year agreement involving Cumulus Media and the UCLA Department of Athletics means that the Bruins will no longer be sharing KLAC-AM 570 with other major LA sports teams, namely the Dodgers, Clippers, and the Chargers. As such, the Bruins will be the foremost LA sports team covered on this radio station, a step up for UCLA football and men’s basketball visibility.
According to the release, Luis Segura, program director at KABC-AM 790, commented on this change, stating, “With KABC’s powerhouse signal and UCLA’s legacy teams, Southern Californians will get some of the best sports programming starting in the fall of 2025.”
Martin Jarmond, The Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics at UCLA, also praised this upcoming change for UCLA athletics, voicing his excitement as the Bruins make the transition to KABC-AM 790: “When it came time to evaluate broadcast options that would best serve Bruin fans moving forward, we prioritized both widespread reach and a singular destination on the radio dial. 790 KABC is the right match to deliver both, and we’re grateful for the partnership.”
Returning for his 10th season, Josh Lewin will continue as play-by-play announcer for UCLA football and men’s basketball, joined by former Bruin athletes Matt Stevens, Wayne Cook (former UCLA quarterbacks), and Tracy Murray (UCLA basketball forward).
790 KABC will air both UCLA football and men’s basketball athletic programming, as well as episodes of the “Bruin Insider Show,” hosted by Nick Koop and featuring Cook and Murray. And in February and March, four UCLA women’s basketball games are scheduled to be aired.
On August 30 at 8 p.m. (PT), UCLA’s home football game against Utah at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena will launch UCLA’s first sports coverage at this new radio station.
