새해 첫날

 이 부분의 본문은새해 첫날입니다.

전세계적으로새해를 맞이하는새해 첫날로서 기념한다.기원전 45년카이사르가로마 공화정의 유일한 권력자가 된 후, 봄의 시작에서 한겨울인 이 날로 1월 1일을 옮겼다. 그 근거가 로마의 남부 지방 이집트[1]에서는 옮겨진 1월 1일이 한겨울이 아닌 따뜻한 날짜라는 것이었으며, 옮기기 전에 1월 1일은 지금의3월 1일이다.[2]

대한민국에선 이 날을음력 1월 1일인설과 구분하여 '양력설' 또는 '신정(新正)'이라고 부른다.일제강점기와이승만 정부 시대와,박정희 정부 시대 때에는 이중과세(二重過歲) 문제를 없앤다는 구실로양력설만을 연휴(1월 1~3일)로 지정하고,음력설을 쇠지 못하게 강제하여서울 등 대도시에서는 양력설에차례를 지내던 가정도 존재했다. 그러나, 음력설은1985년민속의 날이란 이름으로 공휴일이 됐고,1989년설날이란 이름을 되찾고 3일 연휴가 됐다. 이후 양력설은 연휴가 순차적으로 폐지되고, 1월 1일 하루만 공휴일이 된 것이다.
