CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) —A man police believe was caught on camera vandalizing a Tesla in Clovis has been arrested.

Police arrested 76-year-old Stephen Shannon on Monday for the crime that happened on Sunday.

Shannon lives in the foothills of Fresno County and drives a light green Subaru Outback Sport.

He was booked into Fresno County Jail and charged with one count of vandalism over $400 for slashing a tire on a Tesla. The owner says the tires are $500.

He was issued a citation and court date and released on bail.

On Sunday, the Tesla owner reported her car was vandalized in Clovis.

She called the Clovis Police Department to report a man parked next to the Tesla at the Save Mart at Fowler and Herndon at 6:43 p.m. and slashed one of its tires.

Video recorded by the Tesla's security camera showed the man park his Subaru next to her car, get out, look around, and then stab the tire.

The report was taken for misdemeanor vandalism, and the damage was a slashed right rear tire.

If you think you know this man, call the Clovis Police Department at (559) 324-2800.

According to the car's owner, she has only had the Tesla for 6 months and less than 1000 miles on the tires. One tire is $500.

The owner wanted him identified so this doesn't happen to other Tesla owners.
