My hot take is that game devs aren't as bad at marketing as they think they are. Most indie games have reasonable descriptions and professional-looking graphic designs. There's just a lot more competition in 2025 than there was in 1995. If your product is a pill that cures cancer, then it's easy to get a lot of attention. If your product is an indie video game, then there's an abundance of content and not enough spots anywhere near the top. I agree with you that Steam / social media impressions are gamed.

re:  marketing - I've got a bunch of cool reviewers lined up who seem enthusiastic, and my previous game won an award at a festival. But Steam doesn't consider those credentials to be "important" and they don't lead to more platform visibility.

I hope you enjoy the game, and feel free to share any feedback! Thanks for your support!

Love the art, reminds me of classic Ultima. Looking forward to this!

I tried it. I had a hard time understanding what kind of "evidence" I was supposed to be collecting.

Thanks for your interest in the demo.  Feel free to check out the full game or the other games in the MIGO series.www.murderisgameover.com

Thanks for your feedback about the demo. This was a 2022 project and my abilities have expanded since then.

Thanks! Feel free to check out the full game or other (soon to be 5 total) games in the series and let me know what you think!

The art is pretty, but why are the sizes so small? :-/

This is some of the most beautiful 2D pixel art I've ever seen.

I can't get it to work using MV. What is the most basic way to set a floor reflection?

How do I switch it to the water footsteps only? Changing the base step block to '4' did not change the step correctly. It is rendering 2 types of steps at once and I don't know how to fix it. The note tag <Water regions: 1> does not render anything.

Is it possible to create the effect of the sprites wading in the pool using these assets? If so, then how?
