i too bought the game, itch says i "own this game", and have no access to current content.
i wont support patron either, but i'm not going to buy the game again here, cos i dont support scammers. if my access was going to be withdrawn after a certain timeframe, that should have been made clear at the time i made my purchase, not cos the dev decided to change hisgender policy a year later

well if im being honest, if i were to point blame at you because of itch's failures, then i'm probably being generous, cos technically your viewers get told youposted an update, no matter what channel you post it to .. we also cant filter what type of notifications we get.. we only get the choice to turn of email notifications for everything. On the site, these kinds of posts are a plague that flush away notifications for genuine game updates.. when yr following 200 games like i do, its gets kinda old really quick, especially when 100 of those devs are posting "oh, my sisters cat got sick so theres no game update yet", on a weekly basis, 2 years after the last game update.
you should take the fact that i am even responding to your post as a compliment to the interest your game generates for me. i dont see any issues with the game. the guys below are being simpishly-critical. keep it up bro.
same goes for devlogs, we get notification both in our email and on the website "Published an Update", then we click on it and there is no update, just some random blog about what they've been doing all week..
firstly, the notification should say "published a devlog", not "an update". secondly, that kinda thing should be a:opt in, b:mutable, both to our emails and on the website. as a customer, i dont wanna hear about how the devs sisters cat got sick and they didnt do much work all month, and now their monkey has gone missing so they're going to have to go to europe for 3 months and wont get much more work done.
i only care about updates. CONTENT updates. the actual updates are getting drowned out by the excuses channel. i dont care that they're not gonna put the damn fries in the bag today, but at least stop making me think they're already in.
pro tip : if its the "story" you like, there are hundreds of other "weird orphan gets superpowers" stories out there already, in book and movie and tv show and even AVN format..
i dont actually think its the plot you like, maybe its the writing style. but what i honestly think, is that it is the combination of the format, style and plot that makes this truly unique, something that will be lost by taking out one of those factors, making it far less unique as an overall "story".
remove the uniqueness factor and its going to struggle to be anything more than noise in an oversaturated medium. where it was a tsnunami on a lake, it will become a wave in an ocean
hey, i read a LOT of books..
but for entirely different reasons, and in entirely different genres to what i read AVNs.
the way i see it is this - would you read Spiderman if it was a novel?
what if the author took out what made spiderman special - the superpowers (analogous to the harem-forming-ability in this genre).
and sure some still might read it, but in a veritable ocean of extremely high quality works, are you really gonna pick up that book? honestly, i dont think 99% of current spiderman fans would have ever even heard of the book if that happened.
while i respect that you do indeed have a good "story" here, i'm not certain you understand that, like with most movie scripts, the visuals are 90% of what is good about the story.
and while you do point out that its not going to be a "harem smut" story in future, i just have to ask you one thing - in a medium that is highly saturated with quality works (movies), would anyone watch the Spiderman movie, if the protagonist had no superpowers?
it would indeed be a different story entirely, and have no where near the same impact and no longer be an action movie, and would just blend into the hundreds if not thousands of other drama movies out there.
what made Evermore great was not the fact it was just a "good story", but the fact that it was an "AVN with a good story" in a small pond of other AVNs with mostly mediocre stories..
and i get it, you cant brag to your mates or impress girls by telling them you are an 'adult fiction writer' (particularly if you judge yourself to currently be a "harem porn writer").. no fame for the AVN author outside of the AVN community. everyone wants their 15mins.
good luck trying to convert your plot, minus all the meat, into anextremely oversaturated medium and not get lost in the ocean of highly skilled competitors, and i mean it sincerely, good luck to you. meanwhile, i'll be here lamenting over the loss of what was shaping up to become the next #1 AVN and might become the next #56874365 paperback novel, if you put in a lotof effort
