In the future, we definitely should fix it so that once a pumpkin is approved it doesn't need to be approved again, but this year, that'll be the case.

Hello! Sorry about this- most people can place a pumpkin instantly, but due to our account-less system, approval is sometimes necessary for some users. Maybe we can try and reduce the chance of this happening next year.

I recognized some overlap with this sound from Freesound I'm using. You can see the full list in the game credits.

I initially thought that perhaps someone uploaded a copyrighted sound to Freesound, but this sound was posted in 2013, and the earliest mention of this artist or album is found in 2019.

So, I think this artist may have sampled this sound in their song, and now that song is copyrighted and flagging YouTube videos :/
It's weird because this sound effect is CC-A, so if the sound effect did come first, then this artist used the sample without credit.

I'll look into this a bit more, but I might have to remove this sound from the game either way.

Try looking at the settings in the accessibility menu, changing the FOV and crosshair may help

When I scan the game / ZIP with Windows Defender, I don't seem to get any warnings. So I'm not sure what's going on!

It should be a-short-hike-windows-latest.zip - your operating system may have added the -1 if you have a prior download in the same folder.

The actual game is AShortHike.exe.

Unity announced a security vulnerability not too long ago (https://unity.com/security/sept-2025-01/remediation) and perhaps Unity games were marked as suspicious? I already patched the game to fix the vulnerability last week (the uploaded version is Version 1.10.1_patched) so it shouldn't be a problem though.

Hmm, none of the mods remember removing this pumpkin. Was there a swear word in the name of the pumpkin?

Either this was reported, and then removed from the server by accident, or there's some sort of bug.

We don't have a good way to work around this issue right now, sorry for the trouble.

There's actually only 10! I think you're missing:
- Go to the room where you found Pupper <3, and switch the accessibility settings to "enable monsters". You can collect a monster badge.
- Poke around the haunted hay ride until you find a suspicious door, and look for a code to the door in the city.
