Hello everyone!
I just made a Twitter, and I'm looking for fellow game developers and game enthusiasts to connect with. So if you want to befriend a cupcake, please drop your Twitter username below. Feel free to also introduce yourself!
I'll start with my own introduction: I'm an aspiring indie game developer who loves puzzles and mystery.
I've made games in Java and Python using JavaFX and Ren'Py, respectively. I'm looking into Unity and might try it out for future games. Feel free to hit me up if you want to discuss about them.
Pleasure to meet you!
Chuhou Joutai is part of a franchise known as the Drillimation Danmaku Universe. Taking inspiration from Cold War-era political fiction and terrorist propaganda, the first game tells the story of a young couple who are sent out by the military to assassinate the leader of a terrorist organization. Believe it or not, there is a sequel in development calledChuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!. The game is getting close to completion; it is 80% done.

There are two of us based around Manchester and we work on games in our spare time- generally fairly weird visual novel/ choose-your-own adventure stuff. Not too different to you, really :)
Haha, it's possible, and thank you! Your art is also unique. It reminds me of older horror movies. Did you design all this?
I was actually planning to start your Bunny Hill Horror series when I'm less busy with the full version and life in general. I've heard great things about it.
I'm using Renpy for the nonlinear/VN parts and implementing the point-and-click portion with Python. Though there are still limitations. So, I'm looking toward a more flexible framework, like Unity - maybe not for this project but future ones.
Heh, your game was definitely not what I was expecting- I certainly enjoyed it though! Have commented.
Yeah, the Bunny Hill Horror art style is a mixture of mainly Deviant Art stock models, photos I took of Bunny Hill in Stoke and Tamworth Castle's interior, all wrung through Gimp to within an inch of their lives. It's quite a love/ hate game but- having played Butterfly Tea- I think it's about the right level of strangeness for you!
You can find me at@darkdimensiongd. I usually share progress on upcoming video games, or other things I’m working on.
Some time ago I made my own programming language to make video games with. So far I’ve made 2 video games with it. I recently added android support, and published both games on the Play Store.
Now I’m working on making the language better, while also making games of bigger scale.
Nice to meet you Button Cupcake :)
How did you come up with that?
The long story short is that I wanted to make games in an “abstract” way, and then use the compiler to make them playable. The original idea is that, if in 10 years a new platform emerges, I would only need to do some work on the compiler to support it, and all games made with that language will instantly support it.
I know that popular game engines do something similar, but I prefer having control over this situation. Plus I own 100% of my games.
Is it inspired by an existing one?
Its syntax is inspired by the LISP programming language for mainly two reasons. One is that it makes the language more explicit, which helps a lot with supporting different platforms. The other is that it is very easy to make a compiler that parses LISP-like syntax, which is one less headache.
The language is calledavdl
and is open-sourced:avdl on NotABug.org, although it is not ready for third party use yet, I intend to keep it open-source for now.
Is there a specific reason why you’ve decided to make it compilable for Linux first?
I use some linux-specific functionality on the project. I’m more familiar with linux, so it was easier to start this way. I plan to make it cross-platform at some point, but I’ll have to admit it’s not a priority.
Also, I think you can definitely expand on this, maybe create a GUI or tools for others who might be interested in it.
There’s lots to be done, who knows, maybe one day..
I modeled the compiler of that language based on thegcc
compiler, so it is intended to remain as a command-line program. It’s possible to integrate it to existing IDEs. I’m currently working on documentation and sample programs to make it more accessible, but I’m sure it will be a while before more users start using it.
At the end of the day, it’s free, open-source, and a project I enjoy working on, so I’m not in a rush for anything.
Haha. Same here.
I'm working on games on the side. I've released a demo to a p&c adventure puzzle game, but I'm pausing development for the full version because there's a jam I really want to join. So now I'm making a detective game with randomly generated cases.
I might make more puzzle/deduction games in the future, but I also want to try out more game genres.
I'm still deciding whether to keep this as a hobby though.
What about you? Are you looking into the game industry?
That's great, just enjoy yourself on the journey ;)
I'm lucky enough to get my project funded, so I can work on my first commercial game. Not sure what will happen next, since diving into the industry is still kinda unstable comparing to the other industries. But I will do my best, and see what's coming for me next.
Nice to meet you Button Cupcake! I'm@DevContinental, solo indie dev.
Currently working on a puzzle platformer called Déjà Vu, which I've been building in UE4 for the past couple of months. And there's afree demo on my page if you want to check it out!
Hy, nice to meet you. I am Variable and i make games as a hobby i have had some experience using unity in the past but now i use theGodot Engine.
My twitter is @Variable_ind
Nice to meet you too.
i like Godot mostly due to its extremely small size compared to unity, faster project opening time, Can build project in seconds (Unity takes much longer), A built in code editor and documentation unlike unity which uses an external code editor like "visual studio" and online documentation, also it has almost everything one would normally need for making games and softwares (e.gPixelorama was made using Godot)
Hey Button Cupcake, just made a twitter account and learning how to market my game there haha! Twitter is@makes_wolf
I'm working on a point-and-click adventure inspired by games like Disco Elysium and Darkside Detective. Check it out here :https://wolfmakesgames.itch.io/the-road-to-draksten
Nice to meet you!
Hello! My Twitter handle is @jorge_makhor! I really like making games with Gamemaker Studio, and I also do a lot of other programming stuff (I like Haxe and C), though my twitter is usually just filled with random stuff that isn't necessarily related to game dev.
Nice to meet you!
I like videogames. Learn c++ c# programming. Also i am a music fan. Like pop goth rock disco.
Also, i do videogames. Mainly on c++ / c#. Alredy released some videogames for Itchio, GameJolt. Also, have some more stuff like programms, apps, and simple games on my website.
Ready to be friends with some devs!!!
